AppleOne is hiring a skilled Accountant/Bookkeeper for a short-term temporary position in Burlington, ON. This role is expected to last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, You’ll be joining a collaborative accounting team of five, supporting them with overflow work, backlog resolution, and month-end responsibilities.
Monday - Friday
8:30 AM - 5 PM 100% in office
$30-36/hr

Key Responsibilities
-Assist with backlog of financials and support month-end close
-Maintain and improve audit processes to achieve 0 critical exceptions
-Ensure compliance with union remittances, tax filings, and government deadlines (EHT, WSIB, Source Deductions, HST)
-Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, including government filings
-Process accurate and on-time payroll
-Support accurate revenue/expense forecasts and budget variance analysis
-Review, process, and enter invoices
-Complete general ledger and bank reconciliations; conduct periodic audits
-Streamline accounting workflows using Lean methodologies
-Oversee construction-related financial tasks, including draw receipts, submissions, payments, and payroll
-Ensure financial practices adhere to Canadian GAAP

Qualifications
-3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting/bookkeeping
-CPA designation is a strong asset (not required)
-Experience with Sage is required — must be able to hit the ground running (no training provided)
-QuickBooks experience is highly preferred
-Construction industry accounting experience is a definite asset
-Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, financial modeling, macros/VBA, and Power Query
-Solid understanding of GAAP, tax rules, audit practices, and financial reporting standards
-Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and efficiency
