Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Scarborough, ON. This role is ideal for a skilled CNC machinist who can independently set up, program, and operate CNC lathes while producing high-quality parts to tight tolerances.
The successful candidate will join a structured manufacturing environment that values safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, program, and operate CNC lathes for turning, threading, drilling, boring, grooving, tapping, and finishing operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, G codes, M codes, and program revisions to ensure accurate machining.
- Select tooling, measure offsets, monitor cycle times, and make edits or adjustments to meet drawing specifications.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and verniers.
- Complete first-off and last-off inspections, maintain accurate labour records, and report nonconformities to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety procedures, ISO processes, housekeeping expectations, and company manufacturing standards.

- Salary: $47,800 to $49,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Set up and operate CNC lathes independently.
- Machine parts according to engineering drawings and strict tolerance requirements.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments.
- Identify opportunities to reduce setup time, improve cycle time, and support efficient workflow.
- 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a similar manufacturing environment.
- CNC Machinist certificate or equivalent hands-on CNC machining experience.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programs, including G codes and M codes.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and verniers.
- Strong math and geometry skills related to machining and quality inspection.
- Ability to safely operate cranes and lift magnets.
- Strong understanding of machine safety, lockout procedures, PPE requirements, and shop safety practices.
- Ability to produce quality parts, work independently, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an ISO-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Ability to recommend improvements to machining processes, tooling use, setup efficiency, and cycle times.
- Experience machining parts to tight tolerances and achieving required surface finishes.
