Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Scarborough, ON. This role is ideal for a skilled CNC machinist who is confident setting up, programming, editing, and operating CNC lathes to produce precision components that meet strict engineering and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up, program, edit, and operate CNC lathes for rough and finish turning, threading, tapping, grooving, drilling, boring, and finishing operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, G and M codes, program revisions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
- Select tooling, measure tool lengths and offsets, verify setups, and ensure tooling is performing efficiently.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and verniers to confirm dimensional accuracy.
- Complete first-off and last-off inspections, identify parts properly, document work accurately, and report nonconformities to the supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following ISO processes, machine safety procedures, lockout requirements, and all plant safety rules.

- Independently setting up and operating CNC lathes for precision machining work.
- Reading CNC programs, G and M codes, and engineering drawings to ensure correct production runs.
- Performing dimensional inspections and maintaining tight tolerances using precision measuring tools.
- Supporting efficient production by reducing setup times, improving cycle times, and preparing for upcoming jobs.
Required qualifications and skills:
- High school education with technical training in CNC operations.
- CNC machinist certificate or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, including G codes and M codes.
- Ability to set up and run CNC lathes independently.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and verniers.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings and machining specifications.
- Above-average math and geometry skills.
- Ability to safely operate cranes and lift magnets.
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances, tooling selection, surface finish requirements, and efficient cutting practices.
- Ability to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity targets and estimated cycle times.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to report issues, share information, and collaborate with supervisors and coworkers.
- Commitment to workplace safety, ISO processes, housekeeping, and accurate production documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an ISO-driven manufacturing or machining environment.
- Experience identifying opportunities to reduce setup times, improve cycle times, and support faster machine changeovers.
- Strong knowledge of safe crane operation, machine guarding, lockout procedures, and shop-floor safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, quality, and office teams in a professional manufacturing environment.
