Job Summary
We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator - Utilities for a full-time, direct hire opportunity in Scarborough. This role is ideal for an estimator with strong electrical utility, hydro, or infrastructure construction experience who can prepare accurate, competitive bids for complex utility projects.

In this role, you will support utility and hydro construction projects by reviewing drawings and tender packages, completing take-offs, developing cost estimates, and helping ensure bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements to determine full electrical utility construction scope.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for utility, hydro, and electrical infrastructure projects, including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other costs.
- Complete quantity take-offs and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to support accurate and competitive bids.
- Identify project risks, cost-saving opportunities, scope gaps, and estimating assumptions during the bid process.
- Prepare tender submissions, bid packages, and supporting documentation while meeting tight deadlines.
- Communicate with project managers, operations teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and support project handovers.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000 to $120,000 per year.

- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements.

- Support tender submissions, bid reviews, site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project handovers.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience in the construction industry.
- Previous experience estimating utility or hydro projects is required.
- Strong understanding of electrical utility construction, infrastructure, and related project requirements.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, construction specifications, and tender documents.
- Experience with quantity take-offs, labour costing, material costing, equipment costing, and subcontractor pricing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and electrical estimating software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet strict tender deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, competitive bids.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hydro distribution, utility infrastructure, or electrical civil construction projects.
- Familiarity with supplier and subcontractor pricing for utility construction work.
- Experience supporting project handovers from estimating to operations.
- Ability to attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
