Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician for a direct hire opportunity based in Etobicoke, serving customers across the GTA, Golden Horseshoe, and broader Southern Ontario region. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting experience who enjoys variety, field service work, and solving complex equipment issues.

The Field Service Technician will diagnose, repair, maintain, install, and remove industrial waste-management equipment, including compactors, balers, augers, hydraulic systems, electrical control systems, and related equipment. Most days begin at the Etobicoke shop, with occasional direct dispatch to customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical control systems on compactors, balers, augers, and similar waste-management equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance to support safe, efficient, and reliable equipment operation.
- Install and remove complete waste compactor systems at customer locations.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic pumps, switches, valves, pressure settings, cylinders, control panels, and related components.
- Maintain the condition, cleanliness, and readiness of the service vehicle, tools, equipment, and onboard inventory.
- Follow all safety procedures while delivering high-quality service with a focus on first-time fix results.

Compensation and Benefits

- Direct hire opportunity.
- $27 to $32 per hour, based on experience, for an uncertified Millwright.
- Annual salary range of $56,160 to $66,560 per year.
- Typical schedule is 7:00am to 4:00pm.
- Rotating weekend on-call schedule of 1 in 4 weekends, with on-call bonus and pay.
- Company service vehicle provided, with the ability for technicians to drive it home.

- Primary location is Etobicoke, ON, with service coverage across Southern Ontario.
- Approximately 85% of work is located in the GTA and Golden Horseshoe area.

Additional Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic and electrical systems on industrial waste-management equipment.
- Perform field service and in-shop repairs on compactors, balers, augers, and related systems.
- Install and remove complete waste compactor systems at customer sites.
- Support preventative maintenance, safety compliance, and first-time fix service standards.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant field service, industrial maintenance, equipment repair, or similar hands-on technical experience.
- Strong understanding of industrial hydraulics, electrical systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and working with up to 600V 3-phase systems and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Skilled in troubleshooting hydraulic pumps, valves, switches, cylinders, pressure settings, and related components.
- Familiarity with rigging and lifting practices.
- Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule.
- Strong safety mindset, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

- DZ driver’s license is an asset.
- Millwright experience or industrial equipment maintenance experience is preferred.
- Experience working on compactors, balers, augers, waste-management equipment, or similar industrial systems is an asset.
- Experience performing mobile field service across customer sites is preferred.
