Job Summary
We are seeking reliable General Labor and Machine Operator candidates for contract opportunities in a steel manufacturing environment in Holland Landing, ON and Bradford . This is a hands-on production role suited for individuals who enjoy physical work, variety in daily tasks, and contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient plant operation.
These positions offer steady full-time schedules, a safety-focused workplace, and the opportunity to build practical manufacturing experience with supportive team leads and experienced production staff. Successful candidates will be comfortable working with steel materials, following PPE requirements, and supporting production, shipping, receiving, housekeeping, and machine operation activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor, housekeeping, and material-handling duties throughout the manufacturing plant.
- Sort, organize, lift, move, and prepare steel materials, scrap, supplies, orders, and production materials.
- Operate or support press and stamping department equipment while following safe work procedures.
- Pack connector plates into boxes, tape full boxes, and load boxes onto skids manually or with machine assistance.
- Assist shipping, receiving, warehouse, maintenance, and production teams with general tasks as assigned.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, walkways, common areas, and equipment surroundings.
Compensation and Benefits
- General Labor pay rate: $20.00 per hour.
- Press Operator pay rate: $18.55 per hour plus $2.00 per hour afternoon shift premium.
- Annual salary range provided: $38,584 to $41,600 per year.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- General Labor schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Press Operator schedule: Monday to Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.
- Friday overtime may be scheduled from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM with advance notice.
Additional Skills
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Perform physical general labour tasks in a steel manufacturing plant.
- Support stamping, press operation, packing, skidding, and production workflow.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas while following plant safety procedures.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, material movement, and warehouse support duties.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant manufacturing, production, warehouse, machine operation, or general labour experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Steel-toed safety boots or shoes are required.
- Must wear long pants and all required PPE when working with steel.
- Comfortable working in a noisy manufacturing environment with provided hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and arm guards as required.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, move materials, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work the full assigned schedule, including possible Friday overtime for the afternoon shift.
- Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, teamwork, and production quality.
- Willingness to perform a variety of duties and support multiple departments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in steel manufacturing, stamping, press operation, packaging, shipping, receiving, or material handling.
- Experience loading skids, packing product, and working around production machinery.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial environment with changing task assignments.
