Job Summary
We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Professional for a direct hire opportunity in Scarborough, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced EHS professional with a strong background in construction safety, electrical utility work, powerline environments, or linemen field operations.
The Health and Safety Professional will play a key role in supporting safe field operations, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and helping ensure compliance with Ontario health, safety, and environmental regulations. This position offers the chance to work closely with supervisors, forepersons, workers, subcontractors, and management while making a direct impact on workplace safety across multiple jobsites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct documented field inspections at jobsites to identify safety, health, and environmental hazards.
- Respond to incidents, complete investigations, collect statements, photograph scenes, determine root causes, and prepare reports.
- Perform facility and building inspections to ensure equipment, materials, and work processes meet safety standards.
- Educate workers, supervisors, forepersons, and management on safe work practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits across multiple levels of the organization, including worker, supervisory, and management practices.
- Support new worker and subcontractor orientations, PPE coordination, and in-house safety training.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary range: $60,000 to $65,000 per year.
- Location: Scarborough, ON, M1R 3B3.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Conduct field safety inspections and audits across construction, utility, electrical, or powerline jobsites.
- Investigate workplace incidents and prepare accurate reports with root cause findings and corrective actions.
- Support safety orientations, training, compliance activities, and PPE coordination.
- Promote safe work practices while working closely with field teams, supervisors, and management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Field Safety Inspector, Safety Auditor, Safety Compliance Officer, or similar EHS role.
- Experience in electrical, linemen, hydro utility, construction, natural gas, telecommunications, or related field environments.
- College diploma or university degree in a related field, with Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OHSA, EUSR, and EPA.
- Valid G Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract required.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to read, interpret, and apply company policies and procedures.
- Ability to collect, assess, document, and report critical safety information to management.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in ISO or COR certified environments.
- Previous exposure to hydro utilities or powerline construction.
- Background supporting large construction, utility, electrical, or telecommunications field operations.
- Experience facilitating safety training or worker orientation sessions.
