Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist for a direct hire, full-time opportunity in Scarborough, ON within the residential, commercial, and office construction industry. This role is ideal for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys supporting employees and managers, managing recruitment activities, maintaining compliance, and keeping HR operations running smoothly.

As the Human Resources Generalist, you will play a key role in employee relations, HR administration, full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, policy support, and legislative compliance. Key Responsibilities

- Ensure HR compliance with the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, and other applicable Ontario employment legislation.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR databases, payroll system updates, training documentation, and confidential employee files.
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, applicant assessment, and hiring support.
- Support onboarding, new employee orientation, HR policy implementation, employee relations, and manager requests.
- Liaise with Payroll regarding compensation updates, vacation allotments, absences, employee changes, and related documentation.
- Assist with HR projects, labour relations support, administrative tasks, and continuous improvement of HR processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage full-cycle recruitment and hiring coordination for a fast-paced construction-related environment.
- Maintain HR records, payroll updates, employee files, training documentation, and compliance-related information.
- Support employee relations, HR policy administration, onboarding, and manager inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation, including ESA, OHRC, and AODA.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar Human Resources role.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, HR best practices, employee relations, and HR administration.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience working with payroll systems.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
- JD Edwards experience is an asset.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an immense asset.
- Experience in the construction, residential, commercial, or office construction industry is an asset.
