We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity with a manufacturing operation in the Aurora, ON area. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with a strong blend of electrical, mechanical, PLC, and equipment troubleshooting experience, particularly within plastics, containers, or injection molding environments.
The Maintenance Technician will support reliable production by keeping equipment running safely, efficiently, and consistently. Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment used in plastics and injection molding manufacturing.
- Diagnose electrical, PLC, sensor, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to support continuous equipment operation.
- Respond to service calls, machine faults, resets, and equipment performance issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and repairs according to maintenance schedules and production needs.
- Work closely with production, maintenance leadership, and operations teams to improve uptime, safety, and machine reliability.
- Document maintenance activities, repair details, parts usage, and equipment concerns in accordance with company procedures.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire position.
- Pay rate: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour.
- Straight afternoon shift, approximately 3:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- 80/20 benefits plan.
- RRSP with 2 percent company match.
- 10 vacation days.
- Discretionary bonus available after 3 months, paid quarterly based on performance KPIs and profit.
- Safety boot reimbursement of $180 plus tax.
- Biweekly pay.
Additional Skills
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, PLC, mechanical, and production equipment issues.
- Support injection molding equipment reliability, uptime, and continuous operation.
- Complete preventative maintenance and emergency repairs in a manufacturing environment.
- Partner with production and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve machine performance.
- 3 to 5 years of Canadian maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with plastics, containers, injection molding, or similar production equipment.
- Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills, with solid mechanical repair ability.
- Ability to diagnose sensor glitches, machine faults, resets, and recurring equipment issues.
- Comfortable working a straight afternoon shift in a fast-paced production setting.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Strong communication skills with a friendly, outgoing, team-focused approach.
- Safety-conscious, dependable, and able to work independently while supporting team goals.
- Ideally located within approximately 30 to 35 minutes of the Aurora area due to commute conditions and potential emergency breakdown needs.
- Ability to complete the company interview and background check process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in plastic injection molding or container manufacturing.
- Stronger background on the PLC and electrical side of maintenance.
- Experience supporting production environments with high uptime expectations.
- Ability to quickly build rapport with operators, supervisors, and maintenance leadership.
- Stable work history in a Canadian manufacturing environment.
