Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Rating Specialist to join a well-established transportation and logistics organization in Oakville, ON on a 12 to 18 month maternity leave contract. This fully onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented transportation professional with experience in freight rating, billing, LTL, FTL, and transportation documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately rate freight bills for LTL, FTL, warehouse, courier, retail, and cross-border shipments.
- Process freight bills, customer billing, supporting documentation, and shipment records with a high level of accuracy.
- Enter, update, scan, and maintain shipment information and transportation documents within the Transportation Management System.
- Communicate with internal teams and customers to provide shipment updates and resolve rating or billing discrepancies.
- Monitor daily rating activity to support billing accuracy, revenue capture, and timely processing.
- Assist with administrative tasks and identify opportunities to improve freight billing and documentation processes.

Compensation and Benefits

- $24.04 to $28.85 per hour.
- $50,000 to $60,000 annually, based on experience.
- Full-time, 12 to 18 month maternity leave contract.
- Monday to Friday schedule.
- 8-hour workday.
- Flexible start time between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
- Fully onsite in Oakville, ON.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Rate and process freight bills for LTL, FTL, courier, warehouse, retail, and cross-border transportation services.
- Maintain accurate shipment data, billing details, and transportation documentation in a TMS.
- Resolve rating, billing, and documentation discrepancies with customers and internal departments.
- Support daily freight billing accuracy, operational efficiency, and revenue optimization.

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a transportation or logistics environment.
- Experience with LTL and FTL freight operations, including domestic and/or cross-border shipments.
- Strong understanding of freight rating, billing processes, and transportation documentation.
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
- Exceptional attention to detail, data accuracy, and follow-through.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience rating a variety of shipment types, including warehouse, courier, retail, and cross-border freight.
- Prior experience supporting process improvements within freight billing, transportation administration, or logistics operations.
- Strong working knowledge of transportation documentation standards and billing workflows.
