Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Fleet Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Alliston, ON. This role is ideal for a fleet operations professional who understands commercial trucking, regulatory compliance, preventative maintenance, and cost control across tractors, trailers, and related equipment.
The Transportation Fleet Manager will play a key leadership role in keeping the fleet safe, compliant, efficient, and available to support daily transportation operations. This is a stable, in-office position with a Monday to Friday day shift schedule, a competitive annual salary, and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fleet operations for commercial tractors, trailers, and related transportation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, MTO, FMCSA, CVOR, ELD, hours-of-service, IFTA, IRP, licensing, permits, and registration requirements.
- Manage preventative maintenance programs, inspections, repairs, certifications, and vendor service coordination to reduce downtime and roadside violations.
- Monitor fleet utilization, uptime, lifecycle planning, fuel usage, maintenance costs, tires, tolls, repairs, and other operating expenses.
- Analyze telematics and ELD data to improve fuel efficiency, reduce idle time, evaluate driver performance, and support safety initiatives.
- Support accident investigations, insurance claims, incident reviews, corrective actions, vendor negotiations, and fleet performance reporting.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary: $70,000 per year.
- Location: Alliston, ON.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Work arrangement: 100% in office.
- Benefits: Co-pay medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Vacation: 2 weeks to start, with potential to increase to 3 weeks for exceptional performance.
Additional Skills
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage daily commercial fleet operations, including tractors, trailers, maintenance scheduling, compliance, and asset availability.
- Lead preventative maintenance, repair coordination, inspections, lifecycle planning, and cost control initiatives.
- Track and analyze fleet performance, telematics, ELD data, operating costs, safety trends, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with dispatch, operations, vendors, dealerships, leasing companies, fuel providers, and maintenance personnel.
- 5 to 7 or more years of fleet management experience in a trucking, logistics, or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations, including DOT, MTO, FMCSA, HOS, ELD, IFTA, IRP, and CVOR requirements.
- Experience managing Class 8 trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty transportation equipment.
- Solid understanding of heavy-duty diesel maintenance practices and preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience using fleet management software, telematics platforms, and ELD systems.
- Proven ability to manage maintenance budgets, control operating costs, and evaluate fleet performance data.
- Experience with vendor negotiation, service agreements, contract management, and third-party repair coordination.
- Knowledge of safety compliance, driver files, accident investigations, incident reviews, and corrective action processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience supervising mechanics, fleet coordinators, yard personnel, or related fleet support staff.
- CAFM certification or transportation safety certifications.
- Post-secondary education in transportation, logistics, business, or a related field.
